Five TikTok Holiday Recipes Worth Making
‘Tis the season… of food! The cooler temperatures lend to wanting comfort food that still makes us feel good and recipes that are easy to make and delicious.
Look no further if you’re wondering what to cook this week or for the upcoming holidays!.Here are 5 seasonal recipes on TikTok that are actually worth making. You can thank us later when your friends and family ask for the recipes!
1. Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese
Mac and cheese, made with a buttery vegetable. Simply delicious.
Butternut Squash is a delicious winter favorite that adds a depth of flavor to dishes. According to Healthline, Butternut Squash is rich in vitamins A, C, and E and also contains Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, and Iron. If you’re not familiar with this squash, you are seriously missing out! Plus, it is in season during the winter months, making it easier to find at the grocery store. This creator cooks the chopped squash in some chicken stock on the stovetop, but you can keep it vegetarian by using vegetable stock. Then, use an immersion blender to make it into a roux. The butternut squash makes this dish extra rich and smooth. Don’t forget to add in your favorite mix of cheeses and bake it until crisp!
2. Sweet Potato Gnocchi
This dish is great because it can be eaten as an entree or used as a side dish at your next holiday dinner party. Don’t worry if you’ve never made gnocchi from scratch; there are only a few ingredients, and half the fun is trying something new! This creator mixes mashed-up sweet potato with parmesan, ricotta, and flour to form the dough, then cuts it into cute little gnocchi. Flouring your cut-up gnocchi pieces prevents them from sticking together (which you can do on your clean countertop to avoid washing another pan) and makes them easier to handle. After a quick boil, give them a sear in a pan, then cook them with butter and fresh sage. The final product? A relatively quick but gourmet meal.
This creator also roasts her sweet potatoes in the oven, which can take about an hour. So, if you’re looking for a faster way to cook them, we recommend using the microwave. After washing your sweet potatoes, pat them dry. Then, puncture them 5-6 times with a fork and place them on a microwave-safe plate. Cook for 5 minutes, turning the potatoes halfway through. If the sweet potatoes still aren’t tender after 5 minutes, continue to cook in 30-second intervals, flipping the potatoes each time.
3. Broccoli Cheddar Soup
It’s soup season, and we love making broccoli cheddar soup. This hearty dish is perfect for a weeknight. It only takes about 30 minutes to make, but it tastes like it took much more effort. Plus, you probably have all the ingredients in your fridge! All it takes is some onion, seasonings, flour, cream, shredded carrots, broccoli, cheese, and some stock. We recommend cooking it over a low flame, so it doesn’t burn. And serving it with a side of toasted bread is a great move. Otherwise, this TikTok recipe is self-explanatory and deserves its two million likes. Another great thing about this recipe is the use of a single pot! Who doesn’t love a nice easy cleanup?
4. Pumpkin Cookies
Pumpkin spice and everything nice! Fall desserts are some of the best and one of the easiest things to bring to a gathering. The most complex aspect of this recipe is drying out the pumpkin; just make sure you pat it dry thoroughly. This creator doesn’t use pumpkin pie spice, but we recommend you add a tablespoon. We also add ½ teaspoon of both baking soda and powder to make them fluffy.
After rolling the dough into balls, similar to the video, we like to roll it in spiced sugar, just like a snickerdoodle. If this sounds up your alley, mix about ¼ cup of granulated sugar and ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. Enjoy!
5. Apple Crisp
This dessert is a classic combination of some of the best fall flavors; apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg. This dish is also egg-free, so the only substitution you need to make it vegan is for the butter.
After you’ve sliced your apples, you’ll mix them with the other filling ingredients. Once the filling has been created, you can spread it out evenly in your baking pan. Then, make the topping by mixing the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon together. Add in the cubed butter until crumbly, and then stir in the oats. Spread the topping evenly over the filling in the baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
We also love and highly recommend eating this crisp with vanilla ice cream and caramel just like the creator does.
We hope these handpicked recipes help get you excited for the upcoming holiday season! We can’t wait to see which ones you make, so if you post about them, tag us!
